It is official! Hansi Flick confirms the line-up against Atlético: Fermín and Ferran are substitutes, Lewandowski plays

Barcelona faces a key night in the Champions League. Today, Wednesday, April 8, at 9:00 p.m., the culer side hosts Atlético de Madrid  at Spotify Camp Nou in the first leg of the quarterfinals. It is a highly demanding clash in which Hansi Flick’s men seek to take the lead before the second leg at the Metropolitano.

A starting eleven with few surprises

For this decisive match, Flick has opted for an eleven that combines youth, talent, and experience. Barça’s line-up will be formed by  Joan García  in goal; a defensive line with Jules Koundé, Pau Cubarsí, Gerard Martín, and Joao Cancelo.

In midfield, the plan is clear: balance and control with Eric García and Pedri. Ahead of them, a very dynamic line of attacking midfielders with Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, and Rashford.

Up front, as the attacking reference, there will be Robert Lewandowski, who will be in charge of leading the attack in a match where efficiency will be key.

Top-level bench to change the match

Barcelona will also have important alternatives coming off the bench.  Players such as Fermín or Ferran Torres will wait for their chance to contribute in the second half.

Both of them can be decisive depending on how the match develops, especially if the team needs more depth or goals in the final minutes.

Warning about cards: risk of suspension

Beyond the result, there is another important factor that conditions the match: cards. Several culer footballers are one booking away from suspension and could miss the second leg  if they receive a yellow card.

This is the case for Lamine Yamal, Fermín López, Gerard Martín, or Marc Casadó. Flick will have to manage the minutes and the intensity well to avoid key absences ahead of the decisive clash in Madrid.

Camp Nou, key to striking first

Barcelona’s objective is clear: to achieve a positive result at home that will allow it to travel with an advantage. The support of Camp Nou will be essential on a Champions League night where every detail can make the difference.

With this eleven, Hansi Flick is betting on young talent and attacking mobility in an attempt to overcome an Atlético side that is always competitive. The tie is at stake and Barça wants to start by taking control.
